Frequently Asked Questions
When are the sessions
Our Beginners sessions run regularly on Thursdays 7:30-9:30 pm. Full details can be found on our range calendar.
Who can attend our Beginners sessions?
Any students, staff and alumni of the University of Edinburgh. Absolutely no experience is needed to come along. If you have some experience of shooting the best thing to do is send us an email with details of your experience and we will work out where we can best fit you into our club.
Do I need my own equipment?
No, at our Beginners sessions all equipment will be provided, if you join outside of our Beginners membership you will need your own kit but get in touch first and we can help you either with hiring kit or buying your own.
Do I need a membership before I can come to beginners sessions?
You can attend a few sessions before we will ask you to buy a club membership. The prices are on the university website. Additionally, you will need a gym membership before you can use the facilities in CSE including the archery range (more info & prices). For special events such as have-a-go sessions etc. access is free.
What is our Novice programme/how do I join?
Every year we select the most promising beginners to join our novice team. Those selected will receive a more in-depth level of coaching as well as the opportunity to hire club equipment and compete with us at a range of events.
All you need to do to join is attend the first Beginners sessions and show a keen interest in improving. After a few weeks, an application will be sent out for anyone interested.
Do you welcome experienced archers?
Yes! We welcome all students who have shot before. The best thing to do if you wish to join us with significant prior experience is to send us an email with a quick introduction and what your previous experiences are.
